New Statewide Health Initiative
During the 2025 legislative session, Florida Statute 381.992 established the Type 1 Diabetes Early Detection Program.
The Florida Department of Health, in collaboration with Florida school districts, has developed materials to help parents and guardians learn about the early detection of Type 1 diabetes.
👉 These materials are especially for families with children in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade and are now available online.
📄 Check out the Diabetes Early Detection Program >>https://5il.co/3qbx8 or Visit FL Department of Health Diabetes Website
We encourage parents and guardians to review these resources and stay informed.

We’re so glad you’re here, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ll bring to Medart Elementary this year.

This morning’s Back-to-School Faculty & Staff Pep Rally was one for the books!
Teachers and staff from every corner of Wakulla County Schools packed the Wakulla High School gym to kick off the 2025–2026 school year with school spirit and pride. It was the first district-wide Welcome Back Pep Rally under Superintendent Rick Myhre, and the energy was undeniable.
From the moment they arrived, attendees were greeted by the powerful sounds of the Wakulla High School Marching Band, the WHS Color Guard, and cheerleaders from Riversprings Middle, Wakulla Middle, and Wakulla High—creating a high-energy welcome that set the tone for the year ahead.
🎤 Powerful words were shared by District Employee of the Year Sean Simmons, followed by Colleen Maley, 2025 District Teacher of the Year, who set the gym—and Superintendent Myhre—on fire with her inspiring message.
